Weddings in Ocho Rios

Getting married in Jamaica requires couples be on the island at least 48 hours prior to submitting an application for license. Jamaican law stipulates that weddings must be performed before 6pm. Blood tests are not needed, but the following documentation is:

• Applications and/or documents required: Bring along original copies of the following (and be sure these are packed in carry-on luggage, never in checked bags):
  • Valid passport
  • Certified copies of birth certificates
  • Written parental consent for those under 18 years of age
  • Certified copy of the divorce decree or a certified copy of death certificate, if divorced or widowed
• Residency requirements: 24 hours
• Blood test: None
• Other requirements:
  • Marriage application must be made 48 hours in advance of trip.
  • Hotels may also have their own requirements, such as a minimum number of nights or rooms, minimum room category, etc. Check with the hotel for their specific requirements.
• Obtaining marriage license: Most couples work with their resort's wedding coordinator to handle the paperwork details. They can also make arrangements on their own by calling the Ministry of National Security in advance of their trip.
• Obtaining a marriage certificate after the wedding: Couples receive a certified copy of the marriage certificate 4-8 months after their wedding. For a charge of approximately $50 USD, they can purchase the express option and receive the certificate within 4-8 weeks.

Honeymoons in Ocho Rios

When you make your reservation, be sure to indicate that you will be celebrating your honeymoon as hotels need advance notice in order to ensure your complimentary amenities are ready when you arrive. You'll also need to provide proof of your wedding date, so be sure to bring along a copy of your marriage certificate.
