Flint, Michigan
Flint, Michigan's fourth-largest city, was founded in 1819 by fur trader Jacob Smith and is the birthplace of General Motors. For those who would like to learn more of the city's history, be sure to visit the Sloan Museum, the Buick Research Gallery, and the Whaley Historical House. Just 60 miles northwest of Detroit, Flint's central location makes it easy to explore Michigan. A short drive away is Frankenmuth, Michigan's "Little Bavaria." Here, children will enjoy the waterparks, indoor bumper cars, a mirror maze, and a haunted house, as well as the world's largest Christmas store. Also nearby Flint is the Saginaw River Valley, which is home to several annual festivals throughout spring, summer, and fall.
