Hartford, Connecticut

The capital city of Connecticut started as a New England trading post and is home to one of the nation's oldest newspapers, The Hartford Courant, founded in 1764. The city was an integral part of the American Revolution, serving as a military supply depot. And it was in Hartford that Mark Twain created and wrote the stories of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, and his home, along with the homes of authors Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster, are open to the public.
